visa mess

   I thought we'd share with you what some of the preparation process for one of these trips looks like. We took our first trip abroad two years ago and by now we are booking, planning, organizing experts.  

In two weeks we will be leaving for Southeast Asia for a backpacking adventure. The route brings us through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. This is going to be one of the most culturally different trips we've been on so far and are so excited! 

      We have just finished the visa applications to get in and out of each country. They are very detailed and go as far as to ask work history and proof of how you are leaving the country before the visa expires.  Two weeks before the trip and everything's right on schedule. Hotels have been reserved, the route and sites have been researched, and the paperwork is done. 

There's always one big shopping trip before this kind of trip. Depending on the destination we stock up on anything we might need but cannot buy abroad. In this case the bags will be stocked with tons of stomach medicine because of all the strange foods we'll be eating there :).
