Food and Fun!

Lining the streets there are tons of women with these fruit carts. You basically buy the cup of fruit, they cut it up and add ice and blend. They make some delicious $.90 smoothies but they're definitely risky because they have local ice in them.  I guess you can say we are willing to take the risk because we're buying one or two of these bad boys per day. Its too scary to eat any raw veggies because we've seen them in the markets full of flies and right next to the meats so we're doubling up on fruit instead :)
Everywhere you go you can buy a crepe! They sell for less than a dollar and can be made with any kind of filler you can imagine. This one with Nutella and banana seems to be a favorite for dessert around here.
The local restaurants have these chillies out in the sun to dry and make into spices. The food is very spicy here and has a Thai influence.

This is some Es Cargot sold streetside. (yes, room temp, and yes that's a fly on the bag). No thank you!

Rice and meats steamed in banana leaves. We like to eat things like this because they are at least protected from the open air once they've been heated. So far so good.

In the above picture we are eating from the buffet below. For $1.50 you get one plate worth of food and can pile on as much as you can fit. It was absolutely delicious! Its served along a night food market where locals and tourists alike come for some inexpensive local flavors.

No explanation needed about this plate. We'll stay away from those for now.
The fruit here is so different but delicious! We are having fun trying to compare them to fruits we get at home through texture and flavor.

We didn't know where to put this on the blog but felt it couldn't be ignored. This is a commercial on TV advertising a drug that is supposed to make you taller! haha Seriously?
At the top of a mountain enjoying the view!

At the end of our night we stopped in for a foot massage and some wine for $3. It was such a fun way to end a long day of hiking and exploring!

Eating the whole fish steamed with lemon grass! It was tasty but I had to cover the eyes while I ate it. All those fish cleaning lessons really paid off though! Thanks dad!
We took a boat across the river and through the jungle walkway to a small village to see some local life.

The hotel washed, dried and folded our laundry for less than two dollars. I'm beginning to think we should move here...or take a local home with us!
Cheers to the snake shot! Gross!

Riding along the river in a "junk" boat.
