Here we are at the Royal Palace in Luang Prabang. This was our first Buddhist Temple and we enjoyed learning a little more about the history and the monks here. Everyone must take their shoes off before entering most houses and all religious sites. No wonder everyone wears sandals! Shopping around here with any kind of lace up shoes on is ridiculous. I think we remove our shoes about ten times a day. Its a pretty cool sign of respect though so we've enjoyed learning about it.

The below picture was taken inside of the Buddha Caves. Thousands of statues line the inside of the cave and represent the river spirit. We took a junk boat there and got to climb around and see the many many different types of statues that have been placed there over the years.
Here is the driver (Mr. Vanshy) and his boat that took us to the caves.
Stopped in a nearby village and bought a handmade scarf from this woman. They do such awesome handiwork for ridiculously cheap prices. The village was known for it silk products and we were able to see many items being woven by the local women.
This little guy is up at sunrise waiting for the daily Alms Ceremony that takes place on a path from a temple in the city center to the Royal Palace. Locals line the streets and donate rice and fruit to the monks as a way to gain merit for the next life. This is an ancient and religious tradition that goes on all over Southeast Asia.

The main form of transport here is by walking, motorbike, or TukTuk. The Tuk Tuk is similar to a taxi and they are all over the city ready to take you anywhere you'd like for a couple of dollars. Most of them are bright colors like the one above and added a festive feel to the area.
Loved the little street babies!
